Hamilton Beach Replacement Carafe

!±8± Hamilton Beach Replacement Carafe

The Hamilton Beach replacement carafe is easy to find for their 12 cup coffee makers. These appliances are great. After reading several online reviews from consumers who had already bought it, I decided to purchase this brand even though I knew there may be some minor flaws. But everything has flaws these days, right? Well I was not disappointed. There is no such thing as a flawless coffeemaker that will please everyone. Now that I've had it for several weeks I can honestly say that it makes extremely hot coffee, the carafe is dripless and setting the clock and timer is effortless.

This wonderful coffeemaker uses the filters that are basket-shaped. I like these better than the cone-shaped variety so that was a plus. Filling the coffee maker with water is not difficult even though the opening for the reservoir is rather small compared to other machines I have owned. If you find this difficult, just use a large plastic cup to fill it. Another convenient feature is that the water spout swivels to give you better access for loading the coffee filter. When you shut the lid, the spout moves back to its proper position.

Some people have complained that the carafe leaked at the top where the plastic rim and glass meet. I had this issue also and quickly looked on Amazon to find a new one. They sent me a replacement carafe at a low price and it arrived within a few days. While I waited, I just used a piece of tape to seal the carafe until the new arrived.

There is also a auto-pause and serve feature. So far it has worked perfectly and I haven't had any issues with leaks. This is not something I use often. I was able to set the clock and timer without any assistance from the user manual. Operating the Hamilton Beach 12 cup coffee maker is fairly simple and straight-forward. For the money spent, it was a great bargain. The Hamilton Beach replacement carafe was offered at a decent price as well.

How To Fix Keurig Coffee Maker Problems

!±8± How To Fix Keurig Coffee Maker Problems

If you have ever researched purchasing a single serve coffee maker you no doubt have discovered the Keurig line of coffee makers. These machines are a wonderful addition to any kitchen and provide a large selection of single cup coffee blends and flavors.

Keurig coffee makers range from the Keurig B31 Mini Plus Brewer to the Keurig Special Edition B60 Gourmet Single Serve Coffee Maker to the top of the line Keruig Platinum Brewing System. While these are great machines you will soon discover that there are a number of complaints by consumers posted on the internet.

The most common complaint is that the machine simply quits working after some period of time. For example, reviews on Amazon show that about 10% of purchasers have complaints about the units they received while the remainder of the reviews is very positive, giving the machines an overall satisfaction rating of 4 out of 5 stars.

It appears that most of these disgruntled consumers return their unit for replacement, and in some cases the replacement works no better. However, it appears that the problem may be related more to the quality of tap water used than any other factor.

If you use well water it will be full of a variety of minerals including calcium which can build up within the thin water lines and filter of the Keurig coffee maker. While discouraging the problem can be fixed quite easily, and it may be better to use bottled water which has most of those minerals removed.

If your Keurig coffee maker quits here is how to descale and clean the machine:

Pour undiluted white vinegar into the brewer's reservoir to the fill level mark; Place a coffee cup on the drip tray; Make sure the lid is closed and then run a brew cycle; Pour the contents of the coffee cup back into the water reservoir, run a second brew cycle - HOWEVER, this time turn the machine off as soon as it begins dispensing the liquid into the coffee cup! Let the brewer stand for 30 minutes after disposing of the contents of the coffee cup before continuing; Fill the water reservoir with distilled water and then run another brew cycle into a coffee cup throwing the contents of the coffee cup away; Repeat the previous step until the reservoir is empty.

Once you have accomplished the above you may find that there is a nasty taste to your coffee left behind by the vinegar. In that case you will need to run multiple brew cycles with just distilled water before resuming use of your coffee maker.

In addition to these problems there have been some reports of leaking from the Keurig brewer water reservoir. This is generally caused by a blockage in the filter or water lines which does not allow the water to flow through the coffee maker and into your cup.

Again, the best solution is to thoroughly clean the machine until the leak is stopped and the brewer works properly. As with all mechanical devices your Keurig coffee machine requires periodic maintenance in order to make sure it continues to work properly.

The Three Types Of Espresso Machines

!±8± The Three Types Of Espresso Machines

1. The Standard or Manual Espresso Machine

As you might have guessed from the name, the standard, or manual, espresso machine requires the person making the coffee to be on top of things. You must buy coffee grounds or grind your own coffee beans. If you are trying to make a cappuccino or latte, be sure to man the frother controls. Add your filter, coffee grounds, and water. That's about all there is to this manual espresso machine, which isn't as truly manual as the old coffee presses.

2. The Semi Automatic Espresso Machine

There is not really such a category of espresso machine as semi automatic, so we will just give this label to the automatic espresso machines that are not truly automatic. These machines in most cases will require coffee grounds, but some have a built in coffee bean grinder. After you have added the filter and beans and filled the water reservoir, you can turn on the semi automatic espresso machine. It will do the rest for you. Don't forget to turn off the semi automatic espresso maker when it is done.

3. The Automatic Espresso Machine

Obviously, the automatic espresso maker automatically makes espresso. If you have bought a brand name automatic espresso maker, you should expect the automatic espresso machine to automatically make great espresso. How automatic can automatic be? Well, most of these machines attach directly to your plumbing. And of course they all grind your choice coffee beans up for you. However, you do have to put the beans in the machine yourself, as there is no intake line ranging to the local coffee store or grocery store. Also, you will either have to program the timer for when you want your espressos made each day or push the start button for quick espresso. When the machine is done with the coffee grounds, it will place them in an internal disposal area. They will need cleaned out of this area manually after every so many cups of coffee.

As you might guess, the cost of an automatic espresso machine can be quite cost prohibitive for home use, even if you are a sincere coffee lover. This is why the semi automatic and manual espresso machines are available. The former for the coffee lover on a budget or limited space, the latter for people who just want an espresso.

Of course, if you really just cannot live without your coffee and you make a good living, the automatic espresso machine may just be your dream machine. You work hard for your money each day, you might as well start each day with ease, relaxation, and the fresh aroma of great espresso. Instead of going to bed dreading waking up the next morning, you will be going to bed each night knowing your espresso machine will take care of you in the morning in the most caring of ways.
